Melanie Brown, MD, FAAP, is a board certified physician with special interests in medical education, integrative medicine, pain management and the care of children with complex medical conditions. She is trained in Integrative Medicine, Pediatrics, Critical Care Medicine, Palliative Care, Clinical Medical Ethics, and Medical Education.
Dr. Brown received her medical doctorate from Mayo Medical School in Rochester, Minnesota. In addition to her medical training, Dr. Brown also completed a master's degree in systems engineering from the University of Pennsylvania which included coursework at the Wharton School of Business.

Dr. Brown is the Medical Director of Pediatric Palliative Care at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. She is a founding physician of the Pain, Palliative Care and Integrative Medicine Program at the University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital and the past Program Director of Integrative Medicine at Children's Minnesota where she maintained a busy clinical practice. She was formally a pediatric critical care attending physician at the University of Chicago. Her research interests have included resident resilience, communication in the PICU, ethics, and asthma. She has received research funding from the National Institute of Health, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute.

Dr. Brown is a former associate program director for the pediatric residency program at the University of Chicago's Comer Children's Hospital where her areas of focus included resident wellness, diversity, and inclusion.
